I’m someone who always thought that something big needed to happen to make you happy. It needed to be finding the job that you loved and changed people’s lives, or maybe buying a house, or moving somewhere new, or starting a family. Recently I’ve realized that something big doesn’t need to happen to make me happy, I need to make me happy. When I really think about it, I’m happiest when I’m doing the things I enjoy, and those things usually aren’t huge, life-changing activities. And I can do them everyday, or at least try. That’s why I’m writing practice makes happiness. I’m starting to take time to do the everyday things that bring me happiness and joy, and plan to document them to remind me of the happiness I have, and maybe share the journey with others.
For a little personal background, I grew up in the Chicago area and now live in Iowa. I studied chemical engineering in college, and although I don’t use it in my current job, I do love science. I also love baking, making cocktails, wine tastings, painting, and exercise. While practicing to bring more small happy moments to my life, I’ll take you along for the ride. After all, a life full of happy moments sounds like a pretty happy life to me.
